Negotiated Animation

What do I want to do?

Create a game animation and put it into a Scene

Why? What? - To learn new skills that are required in the industry

  1. Animate Game movement
-To create strong animations to put in a show reel aimed at the gaming industry to get into a masters or apply for an internship.
-Continue to practice game related work 
   
    2.Environment

-To improve on concept art
-Learn how to create an environment and the elements,skill and software needed


    3. Animation in a scene

-To make my animations interact with a scene and objects.
-To put my animations into a real time platform

    4.Software

-To learn new software such as Unity, Unreal Engine and Motion Builder
-To improve on previous software - After Effects and Maya

Early Ideas:



Assult Course – Needed to show you can do the basics
Fun is in the environment – Can add in FUN STUFF LATER ! First do this ! Do a game scene in environments to show off environment skills but REALISM!
Environment – Classic sci fi fortress – Snow scene probably – Pretty setting !
                Brief = To put a game animation into an environment
Start with a look up to camera – Smile then run and sprint off into scene
Hut – Indian snow scene  tribe – Animate to song always helps when theme and keeps interest – Can have a pair of Headphones near mac –  Big Roland ones so it’s really dramatic and Immersive
Drop in Cinematic pieces with showreel examples just to emphasise the coolness – Will keep people interested- Cut scene animation
Heartbreak Hotel –
·         Wells are character looking down and looking scary
·         Then it builds up and she’s running and doing all the stuff
Unity:     Cinematic at beginning and at end – So it’s like a trailer – In showreel is clips of concept art and environment obvs a long with animation . Starts proper cool and ends proper cool
·         A clip of animation of a person running through scene then walking then running
·         A clip of animation of climbing up onto a ledge – maybe shimmy across
·         Run off ledge and sown ladder then run from ladders – Go up ladder then on ledge to run off and away
·         Character reacting to being shot
·         Jump over wall and ready one hand on wall
·         Hiding behind wall – Looking – Step out then step back in
·         Crouching watching
·         Crouching with gun
·         Chase By animals? – No probs not
·         Slide and Shoot
What I need to create this: ^
·         Motion capture footage
·         A good environment in which I can portray all this stuff
·         Motion builder software
·         Relevant meshes from Unity’s Asset Store
·         A good enough model for animating – The Female with short black hair and Choker on
Concept Art Environment – What we need in it:
·         Ladders
·         A ledge
·         Building
·         Gun/ Sword
·         Wall
·         Hide behind rocks – Hold onto one
·         Car
Brief:
Create an environment in which a female femme fatale can use as she moves across and takes out her hunters. The scene is a snowy mountain range surrounded by abandoned fire camps and bases, still lit
Character is waiting in hut by fire light- Cold With just a Gun Pans up – Pans out establishing shot just a beam of light on her sitting at a table with Fag and gun – for ‘OOO lord’ Then extreme close up on face and eyes for ‘well well well’ Possibly smiles or winks – Or just evil scowling / Angry – To show she’s mysterious and Dangerous – Always seeing snow moving past window to pre imply the environment she’s in
OR
She then walks to the door during wells. Ends up opening door and the wind and snow blows around everywhere open door.
She a bounty hunter?
Assassin?
She wanted? She’s on the run – Old campfires are ruined – She’s been there and it all kicked off
Come out of this hut for round 2!
Not cartoony animation – Realistic
Old tribal setting – In snow:
Needs to have rocks and fire wood to hide behind- Looks around before moving then crouches and crouch walks to another rock to hide behind that and look around
Then walk cycle (maybe reloading gun) and then turns into run. Then back into walk – ALL way round panning view of this
Jump over small decaying wall in middle of tribal camp and then double jump up higher one to climb over and get out of bad situation

Crawling :
Climbing up  ladders
Jumping over walls – double jump
Climb up and over ledge
Side step shimmy on ledges – Batman style
Fight someone take them down
Go from Run cycle to Walk and then to Run again
Ladders
Bridges

Simple wooden bridges
Houses
Rocks
